Sweden’s Crown Princess marries long-time boyfriend

Monday, June 21, 2010

Sweden’s first royal wedding since 1976 took place Saturday when Crown Princess Victoria, 32, married her long-time boyfriend and former personal trainer, Daniel Westling, 36. The ceremony took place at Stockholm Cathedral.

Over 1,200 guests, including many rulers, politicians, royals and other dignitaries from across the world, attended the wedding, which cost an estimated 20 million Swedish kronor. Victoria wore a wedding dress with five-metre long train designed by Pär Engsheden. She wore the same crown that her mother, Queen Silvia, wore on her wedding day 34 years previously, also on June 19. Victoria’s father, King Carl XVI Gustaf, walked Victoria down the aisle, which was deemed untraditional by many. In Sweden, the bride and groom usually walk down the aisle together, emphasising the country’s views on equality. Victoria met with Daniel half-way to the altar, where they exchanged brief kisses, and, to the sounds of the wedding march, made their way to the the silver altar. She was followed by ten bridesmaids. The couple both had tears in their eyes as they said their vows, and apart from fumbling when they exchanged rings, the ceremony went smoothly.

Following the ceremony, the couple headed a fast-paced procession through central Stockholm on a horse-drawn carriage, flanked by police and security. Up to 500,000 people are thought to have lined the streets. They then boarded the Vasaorden, the same royal barge Victoria’s parents used in their wedding, and traveled through Stockholm’s waters, accompanied by flyover of 18 fighter jets near the end of the procession. A wedding banquet followed in the in the Hall of State of the Royal Palace.

Controversy has surrounded the engagement and wedding between the Crown Princess and Westling, a “commoner”. Victoria met Westling as she was recovering from bulemia in 2002. He owned a chain of gymnasiums and was brought in to help bring Victoria back to full health. Westling was raised in a middle-class family in Ockelbo, in central Sweden. His father managed a social services centre, and his mother worked in a post office. When the relationship was made public, Westling was mocked as an outsider and the king was reportedly horrified at the thought of his daughter marrying a “commoner”, even though he did so when he married Silvia. Last year, Westling underwent transplant surgery for a congenital kidney disorder. The Swedish public have been assured that he will be able to have children and that his illness will not be passed on to his offspring.

Westling underwent years of training to prepare for his new role in the royal family, including lessons in etiquette, elocution, and multi-lingual small talk; and a makeover that saw his hair being cropped short, and his plain-looking glasses and clothes being replaced by designer-wear.

Upon marrying the Crown Princess, Westling took his wife’s ducal title and is granted the style “His Royal Highness”. He is now known as HRH Prince Daniel, Duke of Västergötland. He also has his own coat-of-arms and monogram. When Victoria assumes the throne and becomes Queen, Daniel will not become King, but assume a supportive role, similar to that of Prince Phillip, the husband of the United Kingdom’s Queen Elizabeth II.

Installing An Oil Pump On A Chevy 350 Engine}

Submitted by: Heathertf Eaton

If you need to replace the oil pump on a Chevy 350 engine this is a fairly big job and in many cases requires removal of the engine from the vehicle. This type of job typically requires that you have two people and it is recommended that at least one of you be a very seasoned and experienced auto mechanic. If you change the oil on your Chevy 350 crate engine regularly there should be little if any reason to change the oil pump at any regular intervals, typically oil pumps last for many miles before needing to be replaced.

If your vehicle is having problems with the oil pressure being low you’ll want to make sure you check to see if one of the pickups is clogged or if you have clogged oil runners or bad bearings. If you discover that the problem is centered around the bearings or if for some other reason you need to remove your vehicle’s engine at this point you should replace the oil pump whether it is bad or not because you already have the engine out of the vehicle.

The first thing you’ll want to do is remove the engine from your car if you cannot get the oil pan off with the engine still in the vehicle. When you are removing all the fluids from your engine be sure to use a different catch pan for the antifreeze as this cannot be mixed with the oil. You want to make sure to dispose of all of the fluids properly and then place the engine on a proper engine stand for temporary storage.

Once the engine is secured outside of the vehicle you want to remove the oil pan. Next remove the oil pump pickup in the oil pump itself. If you are looking for the oil pump pickup it is pressed into the oil pump in many cases the whole assembly can be removed by removing one or two bolts near the bottom of your oil pump.

Now that you’ve purchased your new oil pump you want to take the new oil pump pickup and install it into your new oil pump. Before you’re done it is always a good idea to cross check the new oil pump and oil pump pickup with the old one to make sure everything looks like it’s assembled properly. Do not force the oil pump pickup into the oil pump you don’t want push it hard or give any sort of extra force. Simply place the oil pump pickup into the oil pump so it stays but it is loose. Now using a small hammer gently tap on the oil pump pickup housing making sure it is a match to your old oil pump pickup housing. If for some reason you’ve done your best and the oil pickup is not exactly in the same position it may hit the bottom of the oil pan or it may be too high to actually pick up the proper amount of oil.

Once the oil pump and oil pump pickup is improper position you will want to prime the oil pump. Pour STP into the oil pump and rotate the pump enough to make sure that it gets properly lubricated.

Now you’ll want to insert your new oil pump assembly into your engine block. At this time make sure that the rod fits into the base of the oil distributor properly if the rod does not fit properly into the distributor you will want to pull the oil pump down and rotate the oil pump rod just enough and tried again. Keep trying to fit in till the top of the rod fits perfectly into the distributor. You’ll know you have achieved the right placement when you’re able to bolt the oil pump to the block easily. Now both the oil pump to the block and replace your engine and all fluids in reverse order from when you originally removed them.

How To Buy Outdoor Restaurant Tables And Chairs

How to Buy Outdoor Restaurant Tables and Chairs

by

Bill Chipman

Although it s been wintery and cold, spring is just around the corner. It s time for restaurant owners to consider preparing for outdoor dining and purchasing outdoor restaurant furniture. Whether a restaurant is considering purchasing outdoor restaurant tables and chairs for a new or existing patio or deck, they will benefit from a bit of advice about buying outdoor furniture. This article covers a few topics to consider when purchasing outdoor restaurant tables and chairs.

Consider the Space

One of the most important factors outdoor restaurant furniture customers must consider is the size and type of space they have for outdoor dining at their restaurant. Is there room for a large outdoor deck attached to the restaurant? Is there an indoor area that can open up to the outdoors with some feature such as garage style doors? Is there space for a small concrete patio? Restaurants who lease may be able to obtain permission to use seating on a boardwalk or sidewalk area for outdoor dining. The size of the outdoor patio space may partially dictate the size and style of outdoor restaurant tables you will purchase, and the styles of outdoor barstools and chairs to complement the table.

Businesses with smaller patios might consider purchasing smaller two to four person square tables. Some restaurant patios even place small square tables against the storefront to maximize space. Square tables seat more people leaving space to move between than round tables. Small square tables are also easy to push together to form larger seating groups.

Restaurants that have the capacity for a larger patio area can consider creating visually appealing groupings of different heights and shapes to add dramatic interest to the patio. Matching bar height tables and dining height tables with mix and match chair and barstool styles always looks great. Integrating a few

sets adds comfort and drama. The options are limitless.

Consider the Climate

Another important consideration when purchasing outdoor commercial patio furniture is the type of climate where the business is located. Many southern states are fortunate enough to be able to feature an outdoor patio year round. These climates, especially if they are near salt water or experience a lot of wind, will need to take this into consideration when purchasing patio furniture. Also, if there tends to be a rainy season or prolonged sunlight, these weather conditions will also need to be taken into consideration.

Midwest or northern states where outdoor patios are used normally only part of the year will need to consider storage. Lightweight tables such as laminate or granite are a good choice for these areas. Metal

outdoor barstools

and chairs that are lightweight and stackable are great options in these areas.

Consider the Theme

Many different types of restaurants are designed around a certain color scheme, style or theme. A lot of times this color scheme or design theme can be carried out to your outdoor dining area as well. Consider purchasing chairs and barstools in the same style or color as the indoor restaurant furniture. Outdoor patio table options such as Werzalit or plastic laminate are available in a large variety of colors and patterns.

Outdoor chairs and barstools are available in a huge array of color options, as well as many unique materials such as metal, plastic, wrought iron and wicker, among others. Many barstools and chairs are designed in the same color and style family to make it easier for customers to achieve a consistent look for their outdoor dining space. Some outdoor tables, such as the teak inlay outdoor table which can be ordered in multiple sizes, have matching chair and barstool options.

Consider the Budget

Just as with the indoor area of a restaurant, business owners have to consider their budget when purchasing furniture for an outdoor patio space. Fortunately, just as with indoor restaurant furniture, there are many options in every price range for tables, chairs and barstools.

Some outdoor chair options such as the South Beach chair start at $39 each. An outdoor patio table top, the California, can be purchased for as little as $36. There are also budget friendly choices in outdoor table bases and barstools.

Gallery seeks Control themed mail art for exhibit

Saturday, November 26, 2005

Canadian community art group Visual Arts Brampton is looking for entries for its international entry mail art exhibit “Control”.

The exhibit’s entry information discusses the theme of the show: “Are you a control-freak, or more happy-go-lucky? What do you think of corporations’ control on the media and governments? Is your life quickly spinning out of control? Always hitting Ctrl-Alt-Del?”

The exhibition dates have yet to be scheduled, but the show will run in early 2006 at either the Fridge Front Gallery or upcoming World Art Gallery in Shoppers World Brampton, a mall in suburban Toronto.

While it prefers 4 x 6 inch artworks, VAB asks that entries are no larger than 6 x 6 inches. VAB’s address is “Snail Mail Central / 1 Bartley Bull Parkway, Suite 10 / Brampton ON / L6W 3T7”. Entries must be received by January 31, 2006.

This show will help Visual Arts Brampton to continue to build up a reputation in the mail art world. The non-profit community art group is in the process of opening up the World Art Gallery, which will be the first permanent display space to solely exhibit mail art. Over the past few years, the club has organized three general no theme exhibits, and “SAT: An Exhibit of Chairs”, which is running currently.

Cosmetic Surgery Liposuction And Medical Tourism In India

Submitted by: Priya Bora

India as a global medical tourism destination, could capitalise on the low-cost, high-quality medical care available in the country. India, touted as one of the favourite destinations for information technology majors, is currently emerging as the chosen destination for medical or health tourism. The Government of India, State tourism boards, travel agents, tour operators, hotel companies and private sector hospitals are exploring the medical tourism industry for tremendous opportunities. They are seeking to capitalise on the opportunities by combining the country s popular leisure tourism with medical tourism. Given below are some common cosmetic surgeries peformed at some top Hospitals in India and other destinations in Asia.

Breast Surgery: Various types of breast surgery and reconstruction and liposuction Breast reconstruction is considered if the breast has not developed, there has been extensive trauma, or most commonly, after mastectomy for breast carcinoma. More..

Liposuction Liposuction is a surgical procedure that sculpts your body by removing unwanted fat from specific areas, such as your buttocks, thighs and upper arms. Liposuction (or lipoplasty) is a plastic surgery procedure that uses a combination of a vacuum and suction to remove fat in problem areas More..

Buttock Lift: Butt Implants. It’s a cultural phenomenon that’s moving northward. “Buttock implants are very popular in South America, where Brazilian women want to have very round, curvaceous buttocks,” Wells tells WebMD. “Breasts are big here, but in Brazil, it’s buttocks.” The implants have a more “solid” covering than breast implants because they must sustain weight, he says. “There’s been an increasing interest from the public, so surgeons want to know more about them.”

Sub-mental lipectomy for double chin: Ear Surgery (Otoplasty) for protruding ears Cosmetic and reconstructive surgery of the external ear is often performed to repair cosmetic or defects resulting from injury. The most common procedure is otoplasty which is done to correct prominent (“dumbo”) ears in children. The goal of this type of surgery is to improve both the functional and cosmetic appearance of the ears. Frequently, psychological trauma is associated with such features.

Eyelids (Blepharoplasty) : Got tired eyes or bags under the eyes? Then consider eyelid surgery. This procedure, called blepharoplasty is a surgical procedure that reduces bagginess from lower eyelids and removes excess skin from the upper eyelids. The procedure involves the removal of excess skin, muscle and underlying fatty tissue. While it is primarily a cosmetic procedure, blepharoplasty is also an effective method for improving sight in older patients whose sagging upper eyelids obstruct their vision.

Face lift : A facelift is a surgical method that removes excess facial skin to make the face appear younger. However, the aging face not only loses skin elasticity and develops looser droopy skin, but also loses fat and muscle tone. Additional procedures which may be necessary to achieve the best results include: necklift, blepharoplasty (eyelid surgery), liposuction, autologous fat injection, removal of buccal (cheek) fat pad, forehead lift, browlift, chemical or laser peel, and malar (cheek), submalar or chin implants.

Hair Replacement : Today’s options for hair growth have gone through a major evolution since 1952 when hair transplantation surgery was first pioneered. Treatments have shifted from unnatural-looking transplants to sophisticated new drugs and improvements in hair transplant surgery, and cloning individual hair cells. David Orentreich, MD, a professor of dermatology at Mount Sinai School of Medicine in New York City, and others who specialize in the field of hair restoration say that the future looks even brighter than the present. Orentreich’s father Norman first pioneered hair transplantation surgery.

Laser Skin Resurfacing: Laser resurfacing is a relatively new treatment for reducing facial wrinkles and skin irregularities, such as blemishes or acne scars. The technique directs short, concentrated pulsating beams of light at irregular skin. Laser skin resurfacing removes skin very precisely, layer by layer, resulting in fewer problems with hypopigmentation (lightening of skin). This popular procedure is known by several other names, including lasabrasion, laser peel or laser vaporization.

Liposuction (Lipoplasty) : Liposuction is an option to remove small bulges that won’t budge and to improve your body’s shape. The areas most commonly treated include the hips, abdomen, thighs and buttocks and face. Liposuction does not remove cellulite, only fat.

singapore plastic surgery Neck Lift (Platysmaplasty): Do you want to trick people into thinking you’ve lost a lot of weight? You might want to consider a neck lift. Oftentimes, people won’t even notice that your neck muscles, fat or skin has been surgically altered if you have a neck lift. Even though your neck can age before your face, Father Time is not always responsible for that appearance you’d like to undo. If you’ve lost a lot of weight, your neck may be taking its time to catch up. For others, it’s a matter of genetics. Whatever the reason, people young and old undergo neck lift procedures all the time. A neck lift is actually a set of procedures used to enhance the appearance of your neck. Cervicoplasty is the procedure used to remove excess skin. Platysmaplasty removes or alters neck muscles.

Reshaping or recontouring of the nose (Rhinoplasty):- A rhinoplasty or nose job is a nose surgery procedure to reshape the bone, skin and cartilage of the nose. Rhinoplasty can be done for strictly cosmetic reasons, strictly medical reasons or at times combination of both.

Rhinoplasty can handle a variety of medical and cosmetic problems, including: –Too large or too wide nostrils –A nose size that is too large or too small –Crookedness of the bridge of the nose –Restricted breathing due to deformity or injury

Tummy Tuck (Abdominoplasty): Are sit-ups just not giving you the taut tummy you desire? If you’ve got a little too much flab or excess skin in your abdomen that won’t diminish with diet or exercise, you may want to consider an abdominoplasty, popularly referred to as a “tummy tuck.” This procedure flattens your abdomen by removing extra fat and skin, and tightening muscles in your abdominal wall.

Otoplasty – Ear Surgey: Otoplasty/ear pinning is a procedure in which a plastic surgeon corrects such problems as oversized or protruding ears.

Otoplasty ear surgery is frequently performed on children. Because the ears usually reach almost their full adult size and shape during early childhood. Otoplasty can be performed effectively and permanently as early as age 5-6. On average, the otoplasty surgery may take one two to three hours, depending on the specific steps your surgery requires.

Man kills five relatives in family massacre in Croatia

Friday, November 9, 2007

Damir Voschion, 46, has reportedly killed five members of his family in Pula, Croatia on Thursday night around 7:00 p.m. CET (UTC+1). They were all killed by gunshots to the head. The victims include Damir’s two-month-old nephew, his seven-year-old niece, his brother, sister-in-law and then his father. The massacre took place in the family’s home.

Damir turned himself in to police after about an hour and confessed to them “I killed them all”. The bodies of the family have been transported to the morgue at the Pula General Hospital.

The motive for the massacre is not yet known, but there are theories that it might involve a property dispute between Damir and his brother. Neighbors say that Damir was a violent man and that at one time killed his brother’s dog with his bare hands.

Choosing The Right Windows For Your Home Or Business

By Adriana Notton

Many homeowners and business owners are considering replacing the windows to their home and business in the near future. There are many things that homeowners should consider when choosing the right kind for their home or business.

Experts agree that choosing the right ones for your home or business will increase the value of your home or business. However, increasing the value of your home or business is not the only thing people need to consider when choosing the right types of replacements. Choosing the right ones requires much thought and consideration.

The first thing all homeowners or business owners should think about when choosing replacements for their new home are whether they are energy efficient and will they help in reduce my energy bill each day. They are only effective at saving energy if they are manufactured to do so. Homeowners and business owners should look to purchase ones that are energy efficient. Energy efficiency should be a top priority for buyers.

Homeowners and business owners should also consider how they will add to the appearance of the exterior and interior of their home and business. Some look better than others, but that doesn’t mean they are in fact the best to purchase. In fact, some of the most appealing replacements tend to deteriorate more than others. While some look better than others, in the long run those that look the best may deteriorate and need to be replaced faster.

People who are in the market for new ones will need to consider what types are more suitable for their property. Homeowners need to consider whether they want a double pane versus a single. Experts indicate that homeowners should consider purchasing double pane versus single pane. Double pane versus single pane offers additional protection from weather elements and also offers added security as well. Both homeowners and business owners have to think in terms of security when it comes to choosing the right ones.

When purchasing replacements, homeowners and business owners should also consider the frame they will be purchasing. Purchasing the wrong type of frame is not a good idea if you are looking for energy efficiency. Energy efficient replacements work in combination with the frame at keeping the temperature of the interior at what it should be without overspending on energy bills.

There are a wide variety of windows to choose from. Some may be suitable and others not. There are Bay, awning, fixed, single-hung, double-hung, Palladian and windowscape windows.

Homeowners and business owners should also consider where they live or where their business is located before deciding on the type they wish to purchase. People who live in certain types of climates have the weather to worry about. Experts recommend getting storm windows if you live in a climate that produces storms. Storm windows are also good for added security as well.

There are many options when it comes to choosing the right ones. Whether you are purchasing them for your home or business, you want to make sure you make the right decision. Experts agree that decisions should not be based on appearance, but how they can save you money and how long they will last. Ultimately, home buyers want to make certain that the ones they choose for their home or business will increase the value of their home.

In the long run, homeowners and business owners want to consider how energy efficient they are and how long they will last and whether they will require any on-going maintenance. Some require no maintenance others require routine maintenance. In addition, homeowners and business owners should try to buy ones that make a home or business more secure. As such, homeowners and business should be less concerned about how they look and more concerned with what they do and how they do it.

Interview with John Sanderson, Regional Council candidate for Wards 3 & 4 in Brampton, Canada

Friday, November 3, 2006

The upcoming 2006 Brampton municipal election, to be held November 13, features an array of candidates looking to represent their wards in city council or the council of the Peel Region. The candidates for this region are John Sanderson, Susan DiMarco (this wards incumbent), Tibor Bankuti, Theo Goary and Sukhwant Thethi.

John Sanderson spoke exclusively to Wikinews via questions sent in an email. Mr Sanderson’s answers to some of the questions asked are below.

Q: List the three most important issues in your campaign.

A: Safer communities through effective enforcement;
Reduced traffic congestion through effective planning; and
Managed growth through effective plan development.

Q: What one election issue do you feel is most relevant to your ward in this election?

A: My motivation for pursuing pubic office is to ensure that our city has adequate infrastructure to support its rapid growth. Wards 3 and 4 include Highway 410, Steeles Avenue, Kennedy Rd., Highway 10, McLaughlin Rd. and Chinguacousy Rd, some of the most congested roads in Brampton. As a life-long resident of Brampton, the severe traffic congestion that we are experiencing today is unprecedented in our history – and is costly to our economy and quality of life. While canvassing, the common message received from residents in the ward is that we need to better manage traffic and transportation. As a Regional Councillor, I will be a strong advocate for smart and long-term transportation planning of the City of Brampton and Region of Peel and I will take immediate measures to help alleviate transportation congestion in our city. This includes the provision of an effective and efficient public transit system that is responsive to users’ needs, as well as implementing and promoting carpooling, to help reduce single occupancy vehicles on roadways. I am also not afraid to speak up about the issues of Brampton. As Past President of The Brampton Board of Trade, I can be a strong voice to the Provincial Government about their need to make transportation infrastructure a priority, particularly as it relates to expanding Highway 410 and better planning and coordination of transportation region wide.

Q: What qualities or experiences do you possess, that make you more desirable than the incumbent?

A:

Q: Why do you want to represent your ward on council?

A:

Q: How are you currently involved in the community?

A: John has been a volunteer his entire life. John understands that “Community” is about service.
From 2001-2002, John Sanderson served as President of The Brampton Board of Trade. He was first elected as a member of The Brampton Board of Trade Governing Council in 1992, and continued as an active member when he started his own company, J.W.S. Waste Systems Inc., in 1998. Through his many years as a member of the Board, John served on every Board committee, including 11 years on Governing Council.
As a model corporate citizen, John Sanderson and his former company, J.W.S. Waste Systems Inc. contributed extensively to various community initiatives through sponsorship and participation, including: Salvation Army; St. John Ambulance; YMCA Fundraising Committee; Brampton Clean City; Santa Claus Parade; Brampton Excelsiors Major Lacrosse Club (including 14 years on the Executive and two years as President); Rotary Club of Brampton; Brampton Scouts Leader; and coaching and managing various minor hockey and lacrosse teams. As a member of the Ontario Waste Management Association, John served as President from 1996-98, in addition to four years on the Executive.
Outside of his business, Sanderson is very well known through his active volunteerism with the Rotary Club of Brampton, where he has been a member for 15 years and on the Board of Directors for six years. With the Rotary Club, John has participated on: the Easter Seals Fundraising Committee; volunteer at the Rotary owned and operated bingo hall; Membership Committee, where he was recognized with an Membership Award in 2002; and Chair of the Gage Park Enhancement Committee, Brampton’s historic park and skating trail, sponsored by the Rotary Club of Brampton. John’s dedicated service to the Rotary Club was honoured in December 2001, when he was presented the prestigious Paul Harris Fellowship Award, the highest award given by Rotary International to recognize community service.
John Sanderson, more important than being a prominent businessperson is a true community leader. Through his active involvement in The Brampton Board of Trade and Rotary Club of Brampton, along with his many other community initiatives and activities, he has dedicated himself to improving the quality of life in Brampton. In 2002, The Brampton Salvation Army asked John to be its Kettle Campaign Chair. John’s goal was to surpass the 2001 total. He dedicated himself so heavily to the campaign, that through his business and community connections, helped raise $233,000 – $118,000 more than the previous year. This is typical of John Sanderson when he makes a commitment to help. John, being a modest man, is always quick to thank his dedicated staff at J.W.S. Waste Systems Inc. and caring wife and family, for supporting him as he dedicates, on average, over 50 volunteer hours a month to his various community activities.
Adding to his long list of accolades, in 2002, John was one of two individuals recognized nationally by the Canadian Chamber of Commerce as Volunteer of the Year. Later that year, he was also the recipient of the prestigious Queen’s Jubilee.

Q: The Rose Theatre recently launched. What are your thoughts on this facility? Have you had a chance to tour it yet?

A:

Q: The province has strongly encouraged the development of high-density residences near the downtown. Do these buildings fit in with your vision of the downtown? How much say should other levels of government have in urban planning?

A:

Q: How do you feel about Brampton’s rate of expansion? Council recently capped the annual amount of new development; do you agree completely with this decision, would you have slowed development even further, or not have imposed a cap at all?

A:

Q: What are your opinions on Brampton’s congestion and the level of public transit funding?

A:

Q: Why should businesses be attracted to locating in Brampton?

A:

Q: How could Brampton further itself in attracting corporate investment?

A:

Q: Why have you chosen to involve yourself in the political process?

A: John Sanderson knows that Brampton can truly become a great city with the right vision, drive and management. John Sanderson will bring his business savvy and a strong sense of community to the role of Regional Councillor, and will contribute a common sense approach to the management of this city.
As Brampton grows to 635,000 people over the next 15 years, we need strong leaders on City and Regional Council. We need people with vision. But most of all, we need people determined to make change happen, people who will listen and speak out on issues.

Q: What does Brampton mean to you?

A:
