A family has a video of what they claim to be “Tigger” punching their son. Visiting the Disney-MGM Studios on Saturday, Jerry Monaco Jr. of New Hampshire alleges that Tigger purposely punched him without provocation. The footage was caught on the family’s video camera, and the Monacos and their attorney are demanding an apology from the actor.
The costumed character actor at the time was employee Michael J. Fedelem.
The contact between the actor’s mitted hand and the teen’s face is brief. The video shows the following sequence of events:
The footage is very brief. It shows little before or after the punch, a total of only four seconds.
Jean Erik Redrupp, General Manager of Park Operations, stated to Local 6 that “I just wanted to follow up with you and let you know that we have spoken to the cast member in question and have reacted very strongly toward him.”
Monaco Sr. told the station that “The general manager apologized to me. Everybody will come up and apologize to me but Tigger. He won’t be a man about it and get out of the costume and come out and apologize to my son. I didn’t want VIP treatment. I didn’t want an extra day at Disney. I didn’t want any of that. I wanted him to apologize and that is the one thing that they won’t do.” In the statement, he did not clarify whom “everybody” was.
Both Disney and the Orange County Sheriff’s Office launched investigations on Saturday. Fedelem has been suspended by the company until the investigation is complete. Disney commented in a statement to CBS News that: “We received the complaint alleging that a character struck a guest; guest and character altercation is not tolerated. The Orange County sheriff is launching an investigation and we are conducting our own investigation and we have suspended the cast member pending the outcome.”

Monaco Sr. took his son to the hospital the night after the altercation. Monaco Jr. claimed that he had neck pains. “I’m a little sore and most of the pain is gone because I have medicine,” he told the CBS Early Show today.
In footage, Monaco has no visible bruising.

Buffalo, New York —A proposed hotel that was supposed to be built at the corner of Elmwood and Forest Avenues in Buffalo, New York is apparently off the table. The former proposal was going to be called The Elmwood Village Hotel and would have consisted of 72 rooms and cost between $7 to $10 million American dollars to build.
Today several unknown individuals were seen removing a sign that was dedicated to the “Elmwood Village Gateway,” which signifies the beginning of the Elmwood Village at the formerly proposed project’s location.
Nearly an hour later the men replaced the sign with a different and unexpected sign: “For Sale: 5 commercial parcels and 1 carriage house, By: Owner.” Those 5 “parcels” are 1109-1121 Elmwood and 999 Forest Avenue, which is located in an illegal alley, according to the City of Buffalo, behind the 5 other properties on Elmwood. Hans Mobius owns all properties named in the sale.
Sam Savarino, CEO of Savarino Companies never owned the properties and has repeatadly told Wikinews in exclusive interviews that he still had a “contract to buy the properties” and on October 2, 2006 told Wikinews in an exclusive interview that he “extended” the “agreement to purchase the property[s] and will have it under contract for what we hope is a sufficient period of time.”
“He [Mobius] is undoubtedly concerned because he has lost some tenants and is a bit impatient. I think he has properly portrayed the situation,” said Savarino in an exclusive interview with Wikinews.
Savarino also says that there may be “legal issues” to work out now, before anything else can move forward, regarding the proposal.
“There are some legal complexities that must be sorted out before anything can happen there,” added Savarino.
The welcome sign was; however, not removed entirely. The sign was placed, facing the same direction of north, on the side of the Forest Plaza Art Gallery, a new art gallery located on the corner of Forest and Elmwood.
Nancy Pollina, owner of Don Apparel which was located at 1109 Elmwood, but closed on October 14, 2006 considers this a possible “victory” in regards to the lawsuit filed against the hotel to stop it from being built, alleging that several laws were broken, including not performing an Environmental Impact Study before the proposal was approved by the city, during its approval and the proposal was “rushed.” Patricia Morris, who operates Don Apparel with Pollina, Angeline Genovese and Evelyn Bencinich, owners of residences on Granger Place which abut the rear of the proposed site, Nina Freudenheim, a resident of nearby Penhurst Park, and Sandra Girage, the owner of a two-family residence on Forest Avenue less than a hundred feet from the proposed hotel’s sole entrance and exit driveway, were also plaintiffs in the lawsuit. They filed the suit with a lawyer representing them, Arthur J. Giacalone, on April 25, 2006 in New York State Supreme Court, but the case has never gone to a courtroom.
Giacalone believes that a press release issued in July regarding the project was nothing but a statement to “save face,” but that the placement of the for sale sign might be a way of convincing Savarino to speed up the sale of the properties.
“I thought all along that Savarino’s July press release might be no more than an effort to save face. But we have no way of knowing. Similarly, Mobius might have put the for-sale sign up in an attempt to pressure Savarino into closing the deal. There’s no way to tell,” said Giacalone in an exclusive interview with Wikinews.
In regards to the lawsuit, Giacalone thinks it may now be in “limbo.”
“The lawsuit still sits in limbo,” added Giacalone.

Your stomach receives food after it has been moved through the esophagus by muscular contractions. These wavelike movements push food along, contracting behind the food, relaxing in front of it – in an amazing process called peristalsis. When food drops into the stomach, it is broken down for the proteins by the hydrochloric acid and enzymes produced by the stomach lining. The stomach lining also produces a layer of thick mucus that protects it from the hydrochloric acid. The stomach is also capable of the storing of partially digested food for future processing in the small intestines below it.
Education As A Weapon
Sometimes, however, these digestive enzymes, such as the hydrochloric acid and pepsin will soak areas that are not well protected by mucus. When this happens, a gastric ulcer, also called a peptic ulcer, can occur. The stomach lining, or gastrointestinal mucosa, can become unprotected because of two preliminary mechanisms that are believed to help cause ulcers. One is the non-steroidal anti-inflammatory medications (NSAIDs) and the other is a bacterium known as H. pylori/ these two can disrupt the stomachs mucus protection process and leave the lining exposed to the acids there. As with most medical ailments, education, as in HIPAA HITECH and other articles are your best protection against illness and disease.
Who Is At Risk
Here are the four main risk factors for ulcer development:
— NSAIDs medications: Dries the mucus coating on the stomach lining
— H. Pylori: bacteria Eats the mucus away on the stomach lining
— Stress: Causes the lack of production of the mucus that lines the stomach
— Smoking: Increases the hydrochloric acid content of the stomach
The Heart Of The Matter
Peptic ulcers cause a unique kind of pain that you will be able to recognize from other stomach problems. It is a dull, achy, yet burning pain that can occur from your midline to the breastbone. It is most often in the very pit of the stomach that these pains occur. They also:
— Start in between meals or come at night. (no one really knows why)
— Cause bloating
— Are accompanied by burping
— Cause vomiting
— Make feel sick to your stomach or nausea
Unique to Ulcers:
— Comes and goes for several weeks, growing in severity
— Antacid helps briefly
— Can last from a minute to several hours
Your Physician
Call a doctor immediately if this happens as it could indicate that the ulcer has eroded through the stomach wall, broken a blood vessel, or the foods that are usually stored for small intestine breakdown are no longer moving from stomach. With an ulcer, this can be dangerous or even fatal. Surgery may be required if:
.
— You experience the sudden onset of pain that does not go away after a few hours
— Your stool turns black or has blood in it.
— Vomiting what looks like coffee grounds or blood.
Very often, one of these medications may be prescribed that will help to cure a peptic ulcer.
— A proton pump inhibitor, or PPI
— An H2 blocker known as a histamine receptor blocker
— Antibiotic for H. pylori
— A Pepto Bismol type, over the counter medication with bismuth subsalicylate, which will coat the site and protect it from further acid damage
Avoid
— Smoking
— Alcohol
— Milk
The Temporary Fix Should Be Avoided
Smoking and drinking will not only slow down the healing process; it can make the ulcers much worse. While antacids might make you feel better for a few moments, they inhibit the antibiotics so you should avoid them. Milk, which might also make you feel better for a minute or two, actually promotes the production of stomach acid.

Australian Prime Minister John Howard today announced medical research grants totalling AU$560 million. The grants are the result of the Australian Government’s 2008 National Health and Medical Research grants. According to a government media release, the grants will fund research into heart disease, obesity, cancer, child health, depression and chronic diseases such as diabetes and asthma.
Howard said that the grants were possible because of the good state of the economy. “It’s an extraordinary human dividend out of good economic times,” he said. “You couldn’t do it if you were paying off debt. The fact that we’re not paying off debt [means] we’ve got $8-9 billion a year in saved interest that we can spend on good things like medical research.”
